UN Climate Summit Opens Monday

The 15th United Nations Climate Change Conference will open in Copenhagen, Denmark, on Monday afternoon Korea time where world leaders will discuss environmental conservation measures.

During the two-week-long conference, 190 nations will each commit to a pre-2020 carbon emission reduction goal and will discuss how to raise funds to support green growth in developing nations and the reform of the carbon emission rights trade market.

Host country Denmark expects talks will be held toward the long-term goal of reducing by 2050 worldwide carbon emissions by 50 percent of the 1990 level.

Some 100 world leaders will be attending, the most in the conference's history, including U.S. President Barack Obama and Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao.
