A Japanese daily says South Korea, the U.S. and Japan have begun coordinating a plan for North Korea's denuclearization.

Citing an official from the six-party nuclear talks, the Asahi Shimbun said the plan is in preparation for North Korea's return to the six-way talks that could follow the bilateral meeting between the U.S. and the North in Pyongyang on Tuesday.

The roadmap, drafted based on the 2005 six-way agreement, calls for three main tasks: the demolition of nuclear facilities, the dismantlement of all nuclear weapons and materials and the verification of denuclearization.

Asahi said that if North Korea agrees to the one-shot solution, the plan could take between three and five years to be completed.

The roadmap's ultimate goal is for Pyongyang to return to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and accept inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
