Kyodo: NK, Iran in Row over Missile Parts Trade

Japan's Kyodo News says that Iran and North Korea are engaged in a conflict over the trade of missile parts.

Kyodo cited a diplomatic source in South Korea close to North Korean affairs as saying that Iran recently delayed a trial launch because electronic parts necessary to improve the precision of intermediate-range ballistic missiles have yet to arrive from North Korea.

The North, meanwhile, explained that the missile parts are inside an Iran-bound container on an Australian carrier which the United Arab Emirates seized in July due to a U.N. sanctions resolution.

But according to the report, Iran suspects the missile parts were never loaded on the container.

Some experts are saying that Pyongyang may be having a tough time producing missile parts due to the U.N. sanctions that were adopted in response to the North’s nuclear test in May.
