China to Use Rajin Port from July

China appears to be set to use the Rajin port from July this year.

China has recently purchased exclusive rights to use the North Korean port of Rajin. A Chinese official says the road repair works between Hunchun in China and Wonjeongni in North Korea on route to Rajin are set to conclude in late June. China expects full operations at port to start from July.

As a trial run, China plans to transport 100-thousand tons of coal from Rajin. Once operations are settled, the official said Rajin port will become a “Golden Route” that can transport 1.5 million tons of coal a year.
