US: No Evidence of NK Involvement in S.Korean Ship Sinking

Washington says no hasty determinations should be made in regards to whether or not North Korea was involved in the South Korean Navy patrol ship that sank on Friday night.

State Department spokesman Philip Crowley said at a daily briefing in Washington on Friday that he is not aware of any evidence that would link the sinking of the ship to North Korea.

Crowley said the U.S. will continue sharing information with South Korea and monitoring the incident to assess the situation.

Another State Department official reportedly said that U.S. Navy ships are waiting in the waters near the incident to provide support but are not yet taking part in rescue activities.
