26,000 Koreans Earned US Residency in '09

Some 26-thousand Koreans acquired permanent residency in the United States last year.

In the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Immigration Statistics for 2009, Koreans were the ninth largest ethnic group to obtain permanent residency in the U.S. last year.

Out of the one-point-one million who obtained permanent residency last year, Mexicans topped the list followed by Chinese, Filipinos and Indians.

Twenty-two-thousand Koreans obtained permanent residency in 2008.
