Ceremony Marks 91st Anniv. of Gov't-in-Exile

A ceremony marking the 91st anniversary of the establishment of Korea's provisional government in Shanghai was held Tuesday in the Chinese city.

About 300 people attended the ceremony, including Vice Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Wu Mu-seok and South Korea's Consul General in Shanghai Kim Jeong-ki.

Kim said during the ceremony that Shanghai, the center for Korea's independence movement in the past, is now playing a leading role in enhancing relations between China and South Korea.

The event was organized by South Korea’s Consulate General in Shanghai and the Korea Liberation Association.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the death of Korean independence fighter Ahn Jung-geun and the 100th anniversary of Japan's forcible annexation of Korea.
