Obama Urges NK to Return to 6-Way Nuke Talks

U.S. President Barack Obama has expressed hope for North Korea to return to the six-way nuclear talks.

During a news conference held in Washington to conclude the inaugural Nuclear Security Summit Tuesday, Obama said Washington hopes to see North Korea return to the multilateral dialogue and change its behavior as pressure builds for the communist state to improve its economic performance.

Obama said the North has so far taken the road of serious isolation, which has brought great suffering to its people.

Asked about the effectiveness of sanctions on the North, Obama said the approach that has been taken makes it more likely that the communist state will alter its behavior than had there been no consequences whatsoever to its testing of a nuclear weapon.
