China Hopes for Early Resumption of 6-Way Nuke Talks

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao is hoping that the six-party nuclear talks will be resumed as early as possible in order to resolve the North Korean nuclear problem and to ease regional tensions.

China’s state-run Xinhua News said Wen made the remarks when he met with South Korean President Lee Myung-bak on the sidelines of the eighth Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), which closed early Wednesday morning, Korea time, in Brussels.

The Chinese premier also stressed that all countries concerned should make concerted efforts to ease tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

He promised to assist the South Korean government in its hosting of the G20 summit in November, saying that the international gathering will play an important part in reviving the global economy.
