N. Korea Invites Foreign Media to Celebrations

North Korea has invited a large group of foreign journalists to celebrations marking the 65th anniversary of the North’s ruling Workers' Party.

The British daily Guardian said the communist country has thrown open its doors to international media ahead of its massive military parade. Around 80 journalists landed in the country Saturday as Pyongyang prepared for the display.

The Guardian also says the North set up a media center with Internet access.

A list of foreign reporters who are in the North has yet to be confirmed but the Associated Press said Saturday that its Seoul bureau chief and a photographer were invited to Pyongyang to cover the event.

Reuters and the BBC also released reports from Pyongyang from Saturday.
