An international conference has opened at the National Assembly to discuss balanced global development and the Korean development model.

The Global Peace Leaders Conference KOREA 2010 on Tuesday drew senior officials and business leaders from Asian and African countries, including Mongolia and Indonesia.

During the conference, successful examples of the "Saemaul," or New Community Movement, were introduced. Participants also discussed ways to apply the movement to underdeveloped and developing countries.

In addition, the participants discussed diplomacy led by the private sector to secure resources.

The Saemaul Movement is a government-led enlightenment and rural development campaign that was launched in the 1970s.
