RFA: Families of NK's Privileged Lead Affluent Lives Abroad

Radio Free Asia says the majority of relatives of high-ranking officials in North Korea are living affluently abroad.

Quoting a source in China, the U.S.-funded broadcaster on Wednesday cited a dozen such cases including the nephew of Kim Jong-il’s brother-in-law Jang Song-thaek moving to the North’s embassy in Malaysia.

According to the report, People’s Armed Forces Minister Kim Yong-chun’s brother-in-law and Vice Premier Kang Sok-ju’s sibling have both been living abroad for more than 20 years.

The report categorized such people as part of the North’s privileged circle and said that they, unlike ordinary North Korean diplomats, live in big houses and possess luxury cars.
