KOICA Implements Water Landmark Project in Asia

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), which specializes in overseas development assistance (ODA), is implementing a water landmark project in one nation each in Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia and Central Asia as a part of the East Asia climate partnership.

The agency says it is currently operating three water landmark projects including water supply for new towns near Ulan Bator in Mongolia, an integrated water-related project in Absheron Peninsula of Azerbaijan and a small water retention facility project for the supply of farming water in the Philippines.

The water landmark project is one of the key international development cooperation projects pushed by the South Korean government as a response to climate change in East Asia. It has been investing some 200-million dollars in Asia from 2008 over five years.
