Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen says North Korea is "the number one proliferator of nuclear weapons technology in the world.”

He made the comment during an interview with Bloomberg TV that will air this weekend.
Mullen said that Iran continues to work with North Korea and is intent on obtaining a nuclear weapon. He said the latest round of sanctions by the U.S. and the U.N. to dissuade Iran from developing nuclear weapons is having “a very significant effect on Iran, more so than many people anticipated, including the Iranians.”

Mullen stressed the need to continue to increase this pressure to get the Iranians' attention and force them to the dialogue table.

He also said that Pakistan has given assurances that it will mount an offensive the U.S. has long called for in North Waziristan along the Afghan border, an area believed to be harboring al-Qaida.
