S.Korea, Turkey Yet to Agree on Nuclear Power Plant Accord

Turkey’s energy minister says his country has yet to conclude negotiations with South Korea on the building of a nuclear power plant in Turkey.

Turkey’s Anadolu news agency quoted Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz as saying Thursday in Istanbul that he and South Korea’s Knowledge Economy Minister Choi Kyung-hwan have discussed the building of a nuclear power plant but have yet to reach an agreement.

He said the two sides need to clarify details over the nuclear power plant plan before Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan visits South Korea next month to attend the G20 summit.

According to Turkey’s Ihlas News Agency, Yildiz said Turkey and South Korea have failed to agree on several details of an accord. He added that the two sides must resolve these issues in order to sign an agreement on the matter.

The two countries have been holding working-level negotiations on the construction of a nuclear power plant since Wednesday of last week.
