The South Korean Embassy in Yemen has alerted Korean residents there about rising security concerns amid terrorist attacks by al-Qaeda.

The embassy noted on its Web site that sporadic attacks by al-Qaeda are increasing across the country against foreigners and the Yemeni government.

A vehicle that belonged to the British Embassy was attacked in Yemen earlier this month.

South Korea banned trips to all Yemen regions after four South Korean tourists were killed in a suicide bomb attack there in March last year.

Some 100 South Koreans, including businesspeople, are either residing in Yemen or are staying there on a short-term basis.
