US: Parties Can Have Different Terms on Resuming Talks

The U.S. State Department says each nation participating in the six-party nuclear talks can express their views on how to resume the multilateral dialogue.

This follows a South Korean foreign ministry official’s statement in which he said that North Korea should pursue actions that match the international community’s provision of 750-thousand tons of heavy oil as a condition to resuming the six-way talks.

State Department spokesman Philip Crowley, in response to the statement, said that other parties have their own views on the conditions that are needed to jump-start the nuclear dialogue.

He said the U.S. is closely consulting with South Korea, Japan, Russia and China for progress in the six-way process.
