The Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture in China says exports to South Korea surged this year while imports dropped, resulting in an 80-percent increase in the trade surplus.

Yanbian’s maritime customs bureau says its trade volume with South Korea finished at over 134 million dollars from January to September, up 25 percent year-on-year.

It says that exports to Seoul rose 41 percent to 110 million dollars while imports fell 18 percent to 24 million dollars. As a result, the trade surplus jumped 80 percent to a record 85 million dollars.
