Japanese Foreign Minister Seiji Maehara says that it is unclear whether the power transition from North Korean leader Kim Jong-il to his son Kim Jong-un will proceed successfully.

Maehara told reporters in Tokyo Tuesday that there seem to be differing views within the North Korean regime.

The Japanese foreign minister stressed that it should be watched very closely whether Kim Jong-un will in fact successfully take over Kim Jong-il’s position as head of the nation.
