Pope Calls on G20 Leaders to Seek Solutions to Global Issues

The Catholic Bishops' Conference of Korea says Pope Benedict 16th has sent a letter to President Lee Myung-bak, asking for the G20 summit to draw an agreement that will serve the common interest of the international community while respecting humanity.

In the letter dated Monday, the Pope said that the summit seeks solutions to highly complex issues on which the future of the next generation hinges on and called for the cooperation of the global community to that end.

The Korean Catholic Church said it hopes to share the interests of the leaders who will be present at the summit.

The Pope added that the G20 leaders should bear in mind the deeper causes that created the economic and financial crisis and consider the various outcomes that would result from the summit’s efforts to surmount the crises when trying to find a sustainable solution.
