The South Korean freighter "Samho Jewelry," which the South Korean military rescued from Somali pirates in the Arabian Sea, entered the Omani port of Muscat on Monday.

According to a spokesman at the South Korean Embassy in Oman, permission to do so was given on Sunday, Korean time.

The spokesman also said that the seven South Korean crew members of the ship are expected to leave for Seoul on Tuesday, and that the bodies of the eight pirates who were killed during the rescue operation will be handed over to the Somali government.

The spokesman said authorities will attempt to identify the bodies so they can be transferred to their families.

The South Korean military’s operation to free the Samho Jewelry occurred on January 21st after the ship was seized by pirates on January 15th. The ship was saved, as were the 21 crew members who were being held hostage.
