Samho Jewelry Enters Muscat Port

The South Korean freighter "Samho Jewelry," which the South Korean military rescued from Somali pirates in the Arabian Sea, entered the Omani port of Muscat on Monday.

The cargo ship, which was escorted by Korea’s Choi Young destroyer after receiving Oman's permission to enter one of its ports early on Monday, arrived at Muscat at around four p.m.

The freighter and the destroyer entered Omani waters and the outer port together before docking at different berths in the inner port.

Seven South Korean crew members rescued from Somali pirates will return home by airplane on Wednesday after spending Monday night at the port.

The South Korean military's operation rescued Samho Jewelry on January 21st after the ship was seized by pirates on January 15th in the Indian Ocean.
