A plane chartered by South Korea to evacuate South Koreans in Libya arrived Friday morning in the North African nation’s capital of Tripoli.

The plane, which seats 260 passengers, will transport South Korean nationals who wish to leave Libya to Cairo, Egypt.

Meanwhile, a plane operated by South Korea’s Korean Air is headed for Libya separately from the chartered flight. It arrived in Rome on Friday morning. It will leave soon for Tripoli to help with the evacuation.

Some 13-hundred South Koreans, including employees of South Korean companies, are currently in Libya.
