S.Korean-Rented Ship Leaves Greece for Libya

The government says that a Greek ship enlisted to evacuate South Korean construction workers from Libya left for the North African country at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Korean time.

South Korea rented a ship from Greece to get South Korean construction workers out of Libya amid bloody political turmoil there.

The vessel is scheduled to return to Greece on Sunday morning after picking up 163 South Korean construction workers in the Libyan cities of Misurata and Sirte.

The South Korean government has also decided to rent two more ships from Greece to evacuate South Korean workers from Tripoli and Benghazi.

On February 28th alone, 73 South Korean workers fled to Egypt and Tunisia by crossing the Libyan border via an overland route.

Currently, 371 South Korean workers are in Libya.
