The U.S. says that trafficking of methamphetamines along the North Korea-China border continues.

The U.S. State Department made the determination in the 2011 International Narcotics Control Strategy Report that was submitted to Congress.

The report noted an increase in the number of media reports about the cross-border trafficking activities in comparison to last year. The department said that these reports, which appear in Chinese and South Korean media, point to transactions between North Korean traffickers and large-scale, organized Chinese criminal groups in locations along the North-China border.

The report also said that other criminal trafficking activities involving the North, including activities related to counterfeit cigarettes and foreign currency, continue.

The department said that media reports of continuing seizures of methamphetamines trafficked to Chinese criminal organizations from the North’s territory suggest continued manufacture and sale of North Korean methamphetamines.
