The Voice of America (VOA) says that a North Korean economic delegation will visit the U.S. next month at the invitation of a U.S. civilian organization.

Quoting several sources, the broadcaster said that the North Korean delegation will be comprised of some ten economic and business figures.

The North Koreans were invited by Susan Shirk, the Director of the Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation at the University of California, San Diego.

Shirk reportedly extended the invite when she visited North Korea in September of last year to discuss promoting civilian-level exchanges between the U.S. and the North.

Shirk served as deputy assistant secretary of state during the Clinton administration.

VOA said the North Korean delegation’s two-week visit to San Diego and New York will begin April 20th.
