The U.S. says it has initiated consultations on the pursuit of a U.N. Security Council (UNSC) reaction to North Korea’s uranium enrichment program.

State Department spokesman Philip Crowley made the comment on Thursday, adding that Washington hopes all members of the Security Council, including China, support the U.S.

The State Department's special adviser for nonproliferation and arms control, Robert Einhorn, said Wednesday that Washington and Seoul will seek a Security Council presidential statement making clear that North Korea’s uranium enrichment program is in violation of UNSC resolutions and a 2005 pact.
