All but approximately 100 South Korean nationals in Libya have been evacuated.
A Foreign Ministry official said that evacuations of South Koreans would be de facto completed on Saturday, when 15 South Koreans leave aboard a Greek ship, leaving about 100 nationals in the North African country.
The Foreign Ministry said that more than 150 South Koreans escaped from various regions of Libya on Friday.
The remaining 100 South Koreans are staying to maintain their construction sites, including their heavy equipment. They wish to remain in the chaotic nation unless local conditions deteriorate further.
South Korea's naval destroyer, the Choi Young, arrived Friday at Malta’s Port of Valletta carrying 32 South Koreans. After refueling and loading more food, the destroyer will return to Libyan waters in the event there are additional South Korean nationals in need of evacuation.
Next week, the South Korean government will discuss raising the travel advisory on Libya from the current Level 3 (travel restriction) to Level 4 (travel ban).
