The U.S. Seventh Fleet said Wednesday that a U.S. nuclear-powered supercarrier will take part in the ongoing joint military exercises with South Korea.

South Korean and U.S. forces are in the midst of the annual Key Resolve/Foal Eagle exercises, which is the first regularly scheduled drills since North Korea's artillery attack on a South Korean border island.

The USS Ronald Reagan left the U.S. on February second, and arrived in Yokosuka in Japan on Wednesday. The supercarrier is currently with the U.S. Seventh Fleet stationed in Japan and will participate in the drills in South Korean waters before April.

The USS Ronald Reagan, which began service in July 2003, had cost four-point-eight billion dollars to build. It has two nuclear reactors and F/A 18 Super Hornet fighter jets, among a total of 85 cutting-edge jets.
