Key Resolve Drills Come to an End

The Key Resolve military exercises between South Korea and the U.S. wrapped up on Thursday.

An official from the South Korea-U.S. Combined Forces Command said, however, that the Foal Eagle exercises between the two sides, which are focused on field training, will continue into April 30th.

Officials from the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission have monitored this year’s drills to check the status of the equipment and the military power used. The monitoring is in accordance with armistice regulations to ensure that the augmented power is for defensive purposes.

Meanwhile, North Korea, which had threatened to respond to the drills militarily, is known to be holding its own drills in response.

An official from South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff says that no unusual movements by the North Korean military have been detected.
