'S.Korea, US Discuss Increasing Seoul's Missile Range'

South Korea and the U.S. are reportedly discussing raising the ceiling of the shooting range of South Korean ballistic missiles.

Japan’s Asahi Shimbun daily says the two sides are discussing increasing the range, which is currently capped at 300 kilometers, to 800 kilometers.

The paper cited a South Korean official as saying that Seoul and Washington have been discussing since late last year revising bilateral missile guidelines that restrict Seoul's ballistic missile range to 300 kilometers and the weight of warheads to 500 kilograms.

If the range is raised to 800 kilometers, any area in North Korea could be hit by South Korean missiles.
