Death Toll from Japan Quake Continues to Rise

The number of people killed by last Friday’s 9.0-magnitude earthquake in Japan continues to rise nearly three days after the quake struck the northeastern part of the island nation.

The official tally has 12-hundred-17 dead and one-thousand-86 missing.

But reports from Miyagi Prefecture say the combined number of dead and missing could exceed ten-thousand in Miyagi alone.

According to some media sources, the total number of people unaccounted for may end up surpassing 20-thousand.

Over 380-thousand homes have also reportedly been lost due to the quake.

Survivors have been evacuated to local shelters and schools.
