Iraqi PM Says S.Korea Suitable for Iraqi Reconstruction

Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki says South Korea is more suitable than other countries for participating in Iraqi reconstruction projects.

The Iraqi prime minister, visiting South Korea on Wednesday for a three-day trip, made the remarks in an interview.

Stating the reasons, the prime minister said that South Korea, like Iraq, experienced wars and accomplished reconstruction in a very short time through the people's constant efforts.

So he called for South Korean companies' active participation in Iraqi reconstruction works.

Iraq, which has the world's third-largest oil reserves, is pushing for a 170-trillion-won reconstruction project.

President Lee Myung-bak and the Iraqi prime minister on Thursday will hold a summit at the presidential office for talks on economic cooperation between the two countries.
