Written: 2011-04-25 08:13:01Updated: 2011-04-25 15:39:32

More and more countries are demanding that Apple issue an explanation for gathering the location data of iPhone users.

The governments of South Korea, Germany, France, Italy and Taiwan have already sent or are reviewing formal inquiries to the U.S. smartphone maker.

They will ask Apple to explain why it has been collecting users' location data inside the iPhones and where and how the data have been used. This international move is to prove whether storing users' location data violates protection of privacy laws.

Investigations have been launched in the United States by the Federal Communications Commission and the Federal Trade Commission.
