Visa-Free Travel Begins Among N.Korea, China, Russia

Travelers from North Korea, China, and Russia can now take trips to each other's countries without a visa.

China’s state-run Xinhua News Agency said an international travel agency led 21 tourists from the Chinese city of Changchun in Jilin Province. The itinerary has them visit three destinations in Russia, then cross the Tumen River into North Korea’s city of Rason. The group will then return to China on May fourth.

The travel agency said that that this was a trial project permitted by the three nations, but that it would begin full-fledged sales of the tours, which will take place on a weekly basis.

Xinhua predicted that the visa-free travel for Chinese nationals would invigorate an economic collaboration among North Korea, China, and Russia.
