Signs of vengeance posed by Islamic extremists are emerging across the globe in the wake of the death of Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.
Police in Britain said that they arrested five men near the Sellafield nuclear site in the north of England after they were caught filming there. They were arrested under Britain’s antiterrorism laws.
Though police have made no connections between the recent arrest and bin Laden, Britain’s government is reportedly on high alert for possible terrorist acts.
Meanwhile, in northeastern parts of Afghanistan, 25 foreign soldiers from Arab countries and parts of the Chechen Republic were killed in an overnight operation while trying to cross the border from Pakistan.
The Philippines is also on alert for possible terrorist provocations as Abu Sayyaf, which is a military Islamist separatist group based in and around the southern Philippines, remains strong in the area. The group is said to have ties with Al-Qaeda.
