S.Korean Tourists' Spending in US Jumped 30% in 2010

South Korean expenses on trips to the U.S. jumped 30 percent year-on-year in 2010.

The U.S. Department of Commerce said that spending made by foreign tourists in the U.S. came to 134-point-four billion dollars last year, up some 12 percent from 2009.

Chinese tourists also increased their spending by the largest margin of 39 percent, compared to the previous year. Spending by Singaporeans surged by 31 percent.

According to the department’s tourism statistics released last month, the number of South Korean visitors to the U.S. soared 49 percent year-on-year to one-point-one million in 2010. South Korea was the eighth largest sender of travelers to the U.S.
