U.S. Ambassador: N.Korea-US Summit Possible if NK Scraps Nuke Program

U.S. Ambassador to South Korea Kathleen Stephens said that a North Korea-U.S. summit is possible if the North dismantles its nuclear program.

Stephens said at a debate hosted by the Kwanhun Club, a fraternity of senior Korean journalists, that anything is possible if North Korea denuclearizes.

However, the U.S. diplomat said that even though the U.S. is ready to hold bilateral dialogue with North Korea in regards to resuming the stalled six-party talks, she was hoping for a thawing of inter-Korean relations first.

Ultimately, Stephens added that North Korea is on a dead-end road without denuclearization. She stressed that the U.S. has made it clear to North Korea that another provocation against regulations in the international community would certainly result in unfavorable results.
