Korean American Poet-Writer Among Time's 100 Most Influential People of 2021

A Korean American writer has been included on Time magazine's list of the 100 most influential people of 2021.

According to Time's latest online edition, poet and writer Cathy Park Hong was among 12 people or groups selected for the "Icon" category.

Hong has published three volumes of poetry, including "Translating Mo'um," "Dance Dance Revolution" and "Engine Empire."

Her first nonfiction "Minor Feelings: An Asian American Reckoning", which addresses racial discrimination in the U.S., was named a New York Times best seller, one of Time's 10 best nonfiction books of 2020 and earned her the 2020 National Book Critics Circle Award for Autobiography.

After graduating from Oberlin College, Hong went on to earn a Master of Fine Arts degree in creative writing from the Iowa Writers' Workshop at the University of Iowa.
