Typhoon Omais Displaces People, Leads to Blackouts

Typhoon Omais brought sharp winds and pelting rain to the southern region, displacing people and knocking out power throughout the night. 

According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, ten people were displaced from their homes in Tongyeong, South Gyeongsang Province as of 6 a.m. 

No casualties have been reported so far. 

Roads were swept up in water in nine places, including six areas in South Gyeongsang Province and one each in Busan, Ulsan and South Jeolla Province. 

In South Gyeongsang and Ulsan, 21 shopping centers and three homes were flooded. Power went out at 217 homes in Busan and Ulsan, but was later restored. 

Train service connecting Jinyeong and Jinrye, South Gyeongsang Province, was suspended, but will be restored from 7:30 a.m., while 86 flights and 70 passenger ships on 53 routes were canceled.
