S. Korea Reports 256 New COVID-19 Cases, Total Tops 2,000

South Korea reported 256 new cases of the coronavirus overnight, bringing the total number of infections in the country to over two-thousand.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that as of 9 a.m. on Friday, a total of two-thousand-22 people in the country have been diagnosed with the virus, with 256 new cases confirmed since Thursday afternoon. 

Of the new cases, 182 were reported in Daegu and 49 in the neighboring North Gyeongsang Province.  

So far, 13 people have died in South Korea from the virus that emerged in China.
